Meeting Documents

As part of the next phase of our EPIC-funded study of DC power in zero-net energy buildings, we are developing DC power designs for two case-study ZNE buildings (one commercial, one residential).

Arup is leading the design effort, and the resulting designs will serve as the basis of our analysis of the energy, power, cost, and reliability impacts of switching from AC to DC power distribution in these example buildings.

To get feedback from experts in the field, we are convening a review meeting to present the preliminary design options and get input about assumptions, design choices, and equipment options for DC power systems.

The meeting will be held at the IBEW-NECA training center in San Leandro, CA, which also serves as one of the Zero Net Energy case study buildings used in our designs. The meeting will include a tour of the zero-net energy features of the ZNE Center.

This research project is funded by the California Energy Commission EPIC program, as part of the LBNL/EPRI/CIEE joint research project on "Direct Current as an Integrating and Enabling Platform."
